In the past several years there has been an increase in the use of electronic documents. Individuals routinely use files from the Web, e-mail, electronic document repositories, etc. This has increased the demand for electronic printing.

The university uses the Intelliprint system to equitably allocate the cost of printing to those students who benefit directly from the service since less than half of DePaul students make prints on university printers. The system also helps to reduce wasted prints, which helps the environment.

Advantages of the Intelliprint system
  • Allocates costs so that students only pay for what they use.
  • Monitors usage which reduces wasted printing.
  • Allocates expenses so that these costs are not added to tuition.
  • Reduces unnecessary printing which results in shorter lines at the printers.
  • Allows the student confidentiality and the ability to print when it is convenient for them.
